BREVARD LAWRIDE REMEMBERS
James C. Pierce
"Jim"
Founding Father - Brevard Lawride
In a Law Enforcement career spanning more than 30 years, Jim served our community in both the Apopka Police Department and later, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office where he retired as a Sergeant with the Motor Unit (Motor 1).
Jim also served on the Federal Drug Task Force made up of local, state and federal law enforcement officers, and the Sheriff's Office Special Operations Unit, where he developed the first B.A.T. Mobile (a self contained mobile DUI testing center).
When asked why he didn't try to advance his rank while he was working, Jim replied that he loved what he did and some things are more important than money and rank. Jim was considered one of the top ten DUI specialists in the country and was so honored by M.A.D.D.
In 2002, with his inspiration and dedication Jim led the transformation that took Brevard Lawride from a small annual poker run to an eight mile long escorted ride by 2011.
He is sadly missed by all who ever had the to privilege to know him.
Have fun, be safe and always,
